Leather is bull - contemporary surreal vegan painting of bull wearing leather jacket
This is an original acrylic painting of a bull wearing a leather jacket entitled 'leather is bull' because essentially it was his skin before we decided to turn it into clothing for ourselves.
As an animal lover, I like to use my art to raise awareness of how we treat the animals we share the planet with and it seems bizarre to me that we can love some animals and eat or wear others. This was inspired by a real life bull who lived for much too short a while in the field behind our cottage (You can see his photo in the studio shot). He was magnificent and gentle despite his huge size and he didn't have horns (even though the common perception is that all bulls have horns, in modern animal farming they are often polled so they either are born without horns or have them removed so as not to endanger the humans farming them) and so I decided against adding them to his portrait.
You will receive an original artwork hand painted in acrylic ink on canvas measuring 20 x 20cm. It comes framed in a wooden box frame measuring 24.5 x 24.5cm.
